Welcome to Willow House
Willow House Clinic is where our very experienced and well qualified Chartered Physiotherapists, Mary, Rachel and Lesley can treat a wide range of injuries.
To complement the range of therapies we offer Amy has joined us and is providing Clinical Reflexology and Andrea does monthly Medical Herbalist clinics.
We are dedicated to seeking out the root cause of your problem and delivering effective individualised treatment plans to get you back to your best.
Our assessment appointments are usually 1 hour long, this ensures that your physiotherapist is able to:
listen to you properly
carry out a thorough whole body assessment
work to identify the root cause of your issue
devise an individualised treatment plan
undertake hands on treatment
provide you with exercises and advice to help you to make progress between treatment sessions.
We strive to get you back to your best as quickly as possible; it is our aim to see you on the road to recovery as soon as we can.
A variety of Physiotherapy treatment options, including specific manual "hands on" therapy, tissue mobilisation techniques, DEEP OSCILLATION ® massage therapy, ultrasound, therapeutic massage, and Clinical Pilates are offered, along with a full rehabilitation programme and advice on how to help you get better and stay better. We believe that working together in this way gets the best results for you and helps you achieve your goals. See our Physiotherapy page for more information.
Sports injuries or aches and pains from over-training, joint or muscle stiffness or an accident are common and we are able to fully assess you to see why you have picked up the injury and help you recover to get back to the sport or events you love. We see a lot of sports people especially from tennis and golf and are often able to increase your movement allowing you to get the most out of your sport. We also offer a full Functional Movement Screening with a corrective programme specifically designed for you so you can concentrate on the exercises that will be of most benefit to you.
We use bio-mechanical assessments, especially looking at how you are moving, and are able to provide orthotics/insoles for your shoes if you need them.
We have the RSscan Footscan at our disposal to do a thorough, dynamic assessment of walking, running, balance and movement patterns. If required, we can prescribe the amazing PHITS which is the world's first high-tech 3D printed insole, specifically designed based on your dynamic gait analysis using the RSscan Footscan. If you are interested in this as a specific assessment please let our Administrator know when you are booking your appointment. We have put a demo video clip at the bottom of the page.
One of the health products we find useful is the Gravity (www.gravitylife.co.uk).Gravity is a revolutionary new health care system, yet simple and easy to use. It is a drug free injury solution and we have been using it with great effect for people who have had long term pain and had some great results. Your clinician will discuss with you if this is something that would benefit your recovery.
Personal Training is the first step to a new you! Whether you are looking to shed a few unwanted pounds, need advice on nutrition, want to generally tone up or would like to begin training for a certain event we can help you do it with our personalised plans. You can choose to train at our gym, outside or you may enjoy home training. We recognise that each individual has different preferences and requirements and Richard will tailor your programme accordingly. He will arrange an appointment with you, free of charge, to discuss your training requirements and how he can help you achieve your goals.
Sports Massage Therapy is available and we find this to be beneficial for both our Physiotherapy and Personal Training clients. Many of our clients book regular massages to keep their soft tissue flexible and allow them to do the activities they enjoy and recover well afterwards. We offer Sports Massage and also Hot Stones Massage which is very relaxing and therapeutic as the heat is really beneficial. If you are not sure which massage would suit you, Becky our Massage therapist will be happy to discuss your treatment at your initial consultation.
Clinical Reflexology is available in clinic on alternate Thursdays.
Reflexology is a non-invasive holistic therapy; involving stimulating, sedating or balancing of specific 'reflex' points on the feet or hands that correspond to the different regions of the body. This is an integrative therapy that works alongside and in addition to conventional medical treatment.
Research has shown that reflexology has a measurable impact upon pain & stress. There is a growing body of evidence to support the effectiveness to support a range of conditions.
Amy has a number of additional areas of training including experience in supporting clients with menstrual health, fertility and pre-conception and oncology.
Herbal Medicine is about treating the person holistically, looking at the cause of dis-ease, rather than just the symptoms.
Herbal medicine has been practiced for over 4000 years and is a natural medicine to support the healing process of the physical illness, mental unrest, emotional state and spiritual essence.
The initial consultation may take up to 1.5 hours, where an in depth health history is taken. This includes discussing nutritional, lifestyle, physical, emotional and psychological issues, any health concerns, any medications you are currently taking and examining your blood pressure and pulse. Afterwards, we discuss a package that is right for you and Andrea will formulate a bespoke herbal medicine. This is usually in the form of a tincture, but teas, vinegars, glycerites, capsules, powders or creams may also be used.
NB. Do not stop taking any medication without the advice of a healthcare provider.
If you are suffering from arthritis, backache, sciatica, neck pain or other problems with your joints it is worth giving us a ring to see if we can help. We see a lot of people after knee and hip replacement surgery or other operations, helping them get back on their feet as soon as possible and getting the most out of their new joint.
We also see many people after vehicle accidents and after a full assessment of your specific injury, we can help you get back to normal with gentle treatment and an effective exercise programme whether you want to get back to gardening or competing in a triathlon!
Please look at our Facebook and Twitter pages for up to date information, exercises and comments from clients.
